Hampstead Theatre

Turandot, Brecht’s last play and his only comedy, finally received its UK premiere more than 50 years after his death, in a translation by Edward Kemp.

Inspired by a Chinese fairytale, Turandot follows the varied fortunes of the Emperor of China, who employs a team of spin doctors to save the dynasty after the plummeting price of cotton devalues the imperial coffers.

Directed by Anthony Clark and with a cast of 11 including Chipo Chung and David Yip.
